A visitor to Bethlehem Revisited shares her
thoughts and feelings in this poem.

I traveled back to the first Christmas night.
Where a bright star led me to witness this sight
Roman soldiers and a census taker,
Merchants, fishermen, oil lamp maker;
Bethlehem, for these people, is home,
They greeted me with a welcome "Shalom".
I heard a glorious angel sing,
Sing Praises to the newborn King.
At first I saw a camel, donkey, and more,
Looking around, I saw people galore,
And a wee, tiny baby asleep on the hay,
The gift from God to wash our sin away.
This Jesus is the only reason
We celebrate this Holy season.
